Josh Tazman

Joshua Tazman is a 17-year-old singer/songwriter from the Bay Area. His pure, yearning vocals soar above a lush texture of acoustic guitar and piano, delivering a fresh pop-jazz mix that draws from artists such as Stevie Wonder and John Mayer, as well as Joshua’s “multitude of talents” (Mark Mazzetti, President of Record Company in a Box).

Joshua’s debut EP, “Jump,” is planned for release September 2015. Joshua’s music celebrates the pursuit, loss, and recognition of our dreams. Joshua has opened for top Bay Area jazz artists such as the Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra,  The Michael Zilber Quartet and vocalist Sandy Cressman, and he regularly fills a 3-hour set at San Francisco’s Old Skool Cafe, self-accompanying on guitar and piano.

Joshua’s list of accomplishments attests to his talent. He has recently been featured in the Grammy Camp Jazz Session Jazz Choir, was honored as a Finalist by the National YoungArts Foundation, and was a top 10 finalist in Michael Feinstein’s Great American Songbook Academy - all accomplishments from the first half of 2015. He was named an “Outstanding Soloist” and “the Shape of Jazz to Come” by the 2013 Stanford Jazz Camp, and received the Madi Bacon Scholarship for Music Education in 2012. At 11, he participated in the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama as a member of the San Francisco Boys Chorus (2009).
